Venturing Campout -- Float Trip

The 2006 VENTURING SPRING EVENT

Heart of America Council Venturing Officers Association

Who can go?

  • Members of Crew 2286 and their guests ages 14 to 21.

What is it?

  • The Heart of America Council and the Venturing Officers Association, is sponsoring a Float Trip weekend. Crews will participate in this weekend event that will allow Venturers to enjoy fellowship, canoeing, officer elections and fun in the sun with other Crews. One meal will be provided for Saturday evening.
  • Each crew should provide their own food for other meals and camping equipment.

When?

  • April 21-23, 2006.
  • Crews will be arriving all night long on Friday April 21st.
  • The float trip will be over on Sunday April 23rd at 8:00 a.m.

When and where to meet?

  • At the Lenexa United Methodist Church Friday evening, April 21st. at 5:00 pm. We will load up the camping supplies and leave around 5:30pm.
  • (We will return around 2:30pm Sunday afternoon)

What to bring?

  • Your personal life jacket, if you wish
  • Money for dinner on the way down.
  • Camping supplies and tents.
  • Your personal gear.
  • Sun screen and Aqua shoes or sandals for the water.
  • The Crew will need to bring food for Saturday breakfast and lunch and Sunday breakfast
  • A Campout Permission Slip signed by a parent if under 21.

Where?

  • The event will be held on the upper Meramec River just outside of Steelville, MO at the "Rafting Co. Camp Ground," (P.O. Box 906, Steelville MO 65565).
  • The Camp Ground is located at 95 McCormick Rd.
  • Each Crew is responsible for their transportation.

Cost?

  • The cost is $40.00 per person (5 per adult) and will cover camping, canoe rental, life jackets, and a chicken dinner Saturday night.

What about Insurance?

  • Liability as well as Sickness and Accident Insurance are provided for all registered members and leaders of the Heart of America Council.
