Campout -- Cosmosphere (Astronomy Merit Badge)

This overnighter will be for the Astronomy Merit Badge at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center in Hutchinson, Kansas.  Scouts should be able to complete the Astronomy merit badge during this overnighter.  The troop will be staying overnight at the 4-H Building at Kansas State Fairgrounds.  Meet at the Lenexa United Methodist Church on Saturday morning November 19th at 6:30 am ready to leave at 7:00 am.  Please eat breakfast before leaving, we don’t plan to stop.  We will return around noon Sunday November 20th.

Depart:  Meet at LUMC at 6:30 am on November 19th and leave at 7:00 am. 

What to bring:

  • Signed permission slip

  • Class A uniform (required for Merit Badge work)

  • Your personal items (including sleeping bag)

  • Money for McDonald’s breakfast Sunday morning on return trip

  • Scouts may wish to bring extra money for souvenirs.

  • Scout Handbook for advancement

  • Dinner

Cost:

  • $40 for Astronomy Merit Badge
  • $20 for Adults on merit badges
  • $10 per person for 4-H Building Dorm

The merit badge fees will cover the cost of materials, activities, patches and lunch and dinner at the Hutchinson Community College cafeteria.
