Campout -- Louisburg, KS - Shotgun/Rifle Merit Badge

1 night campout

When and where to meet:
Lenexa United Methodist Church Saturday morning, at 7:30am. We will need
help to load up the camping supplies. Please be on time so the fun can begin.
Please eat breakfast before you come or bring something to eat on the way. It
will take about one hour to drive to camp. Click

Safety Issues
NO SCOUT WE BE ALLOWED TO BRING A GUN OF ANY TYPE. ONLY PARENTS CAN BRING A
GUN. THERE WILL BE 20 gauge SHOTGUNS AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO SHOOT IF YOU DO NOT
HAVE ONE. NO SCOUT WILL SHOOT WITHOUT A SHOOTING
PERMISSION SLIP. PARENTS THAT BRING A GUN MUST KEEP IT LOCKED UP. DO NOT
GIVE ANY SCOUT A GUN UNLESS YOU ARE WITH HIM AT ALL TIMES. ALL GUNS ARE THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF THEIR OWNERS. Trigger locks are highly recommended.
What to bring - Everyone can attend:
This is an opportunity for all scouts to shoot both a shotgun and a rifle.
They MUST have a signed SHOOTING
PERMISSION SLIP to shoot shotgun or rifle. Scouts need to bring the shells,
bullets and targets they want to shoot DON'T FORGET YOUR SAFETY EQUIPMENT. It
is mandatory that all scouts attend the Safety class (Saturday Feb 8th at 8:30am
until Noon). Scouts that would like to work toward their Shotgun Merit
Badges must attend the class to complete the prerequisites. Scouts should review
the appropriate Merit Badge book prior to the Saturday 2/8 session.
All Scouts
1. Your personal items, Boy Scout Book.
2. Patrol food, camping and cooking supplies, tents.
3. Bring your class "A" uniform for advancement.
4. Everything you have to STAY WARM. Last year it got down to 10 degrees.
5. Parent participation is encouraged.
6. A Campout Permission Slip signed by a parent.
7. A Shooting
Permission Slip signed by a parent.
Scouts participating in the Shotgun Merit Badge
must bring the following to the campout:
1. Eye and ear protection
2. Bring 3 boxes of shells (75 shells)
3. Bring 1 box of clay pigeons. Kmart, Wal-Mart, Galyan's, and Dick's would all
have them.
4. Physical ability to shoot 25 rounds twice. (ouch)
5. Must hit 24 out of 50 targets.
6. Attend safety class (Saturday Feb 8th at 8:30am until Noon)
7. There will be 20 gauge shotguns available if you need a shotgun.
8. Parent participation is encouraged.
8. A Shooting

9. No age limit.
