Old Town Lenexa Cleanup Old Town Lenexa Cleanup 2005 Attention friends of Old Town Lenexa – residents, scout troops and other members of the Lenexa community: Time is fast approaching for the second annual Old Town Spring Cleanup Day, which is set for Saturday morning April 16. Join your friends and neighbors sprucing up the vacant lots, curbsides and the railroad right of way by picking up all the trash that has collected over the winter. Check in at the Pie Lady Coffee House between 9 and Noon for instructions on where your help is needed. Some trash bags will be provided, but bring your own rolls of bags just in case. And it might not hurt to bring a broom, a shovel, or a rake. Whatever tools you think you’ll need, bring them along. Free pop and water will be provided to quench your thirst. Last year we had a dumpster (courtesy of the city) in which to deposit all the litter we collected. We hope that will be available again this year. But either way, we’ll find a home for the garbage you collect. By helping out, you’ll not only help the environment by preventing that trash from ending up in the storm drains, but you’ll show the rest of Lenexa that Old Town residents care about the historic center of town. Plus, it’s a great way to meet your neighbors. Scout troops, church groups and other organizations are encouraged to participate. (Scouts, remember those service hours you need for rank advancement.) For more information, contact the cleanup coordinator, Mike Hendricks, former Troop COR. Rain date is the following Saturday, April 23, but only if it pours. A few sprinkles aren’t going to stop us. |
