Summer Camp News

  • Philmont High Adventure Camp is June 13-25, 2007!  Contact David Colvin for more information.
  • Summer Camp 2007 will be July 29-August 4, 2007 at Camp Friedlander!  Contact Brent Woods for more information.

    Some comments found online was that Friedlander got exceptional comments, praising the camp, the food, the program and the facilities.

    Cost are being worked out, but it will certainly be less than the Yellowstone summer camp due to the shorter trip time. A preliminary cost will be determined before signup starts next year.
     
    Here are some features of Camp Friedlander:
    • Located outside of Cincinnati, OH
    • 610 miles from Lenexa or 9 hours away
    • Camp has been renovated in 2000
    • Located around an 18 acre lake
    • Offers over 45 merit badges
    • Has a Olympic size swimming pool
    • Camp has 5 separate shower houses with flushable toilets and separate shower stalls; close to campsite
    • Dining hall is air-conditioned
    • Each campsite has its own covered shelter with picnic table
    • Camp provides their own canvas tents on pallets
    • Older scouts have programs that include mountain biking, canoeing, backpacking, caving, scuba, snorkeling and rappelling

    While it is still early in the summer camp planning stages, we wanted you to know these camp dates for your family's planning.

 

    2005

  • Boundary Waters High Adventure by Mr. Szczesny, October 26, 2005
  • December will feature a combined Activity Night/Overnight lock-in at Bump City, so there will not be a separate campout in December.
  • December Activity Night is the Bump City Lock-In.  Parent consent forms can be printed here.
  • Help us celebrate J. Karsten's Eagle Scout Court of Honor, Sunday, December 17, 2:00 pm in the LUMC Sanctuary.
  • The January Activity Night will be a Gaming Night at LUMC.

  • The January Campout is at Lake Jacomo - This event is CANCELLED due to weather and camping conditions!

    The Order of the Arrow Winter Banquet is historically the first event each yearof Tamegonit Lodge . The 2007 banquetwill beheld on January 6, 2007 at the Bartle Hall Convention Center,301 W13th Street, Kansas City, Missouri.

    The cost is $25.00 for Arrowman or Non- OA Members

    All Arrowman and guests are invited for fellowship, food and fun.

    The gathering will begin at 5:00pm, Followed by dinner at 6:00pm.

2007

  • December Outing - Bowling, dinner and a movie at The Legends

On Saturday, December 9th, we're going bowling at the Legend's Pin-Up Bowl at 4:00, and afterwards eat dinner at one of the Legend's restaurants and then go to see the 7:00 showing of Stranger Than Fiction at The Legend's 14 Theater.

We'll meet at the Sears Grand parking lot (87th & Maurer) at 3:00 to car pool to The Legends.  We'll leave no later than 3:20, so please be on time. We'll go to dinner at 5:00 and attend the 7:00 showing of Stranger Than Fiction. We should return around 9:30.

The costs should be no more than $30, but you may want to bring a little more if you plan on eating a lot of snacks at the bowling alley or at the movies.  Contact Troy Brady to signup for this outing (we need to make sure enough bowling lanes are reserved).

  • Ski Trip with Crew 865 to Winter Park, CO, January 12-16, 2007
    The approximate cost is $335, and includes bus, condo, ski rental, and lift tickets for 3 days.  Contact Tim Bodendistel with any questions.

  • Mall of America Trip, Bloomington, MN, February 17-19, 2007
    The approximate cost is $155, and includes transportation, Sleep With The Sharks program, Unlimited Ride ticket for the Park at the MOA, one night's hotel lodging and meals.  A $50 deposit is due by December 11.  Contact Troy Brady with any questions. 

  • Summer Island Adventure to Costa Rica, Late July, 2007
    Plans are shaping up for this exciting Venture Crew Trip.  Come to our next meeting for more details and to provide your input as we finalize our trip plans.  Contact Tim Bodendistel with any questions.

  • Fundraiser at the University of Scouting, November 4, 2006.
    We will be selling drinks at the University of Scouting, which runs from 8:30 to 4:30.  We'll meet at LUMC at 7:00 AM to car pool to Hickman Mills High School.  Contact Tim Bodendistel with any questions.
